I have, but I've also done analysis using a large trauma database so....

There are open/closed fractures, and there are open/closed fracture repair procedures. Closed repair is something like casting; open repair is when they have to "do things" the details of which I'd rather not consider.

There was mention this morning that they also had to 'open up' the muscles so that swelling would not cut off the circulation. -- nm

Fasciotomy to prevent compartment syndrome. That was actually the first study I used that database for. -- nm
