LYC Trip Report:

- United Club lounge at O'Hare : A- Excellent selection of prepackaged food. Most were vegetarian/gluten free for my wife which was a nice surprise. Free drinks, what's not to like. Daughter definitely enjoyed the posh.
- Surprise first class tickets: A She had no idea that was coming. Daughter/wife were in Row 1 which was a little annoying for the lack of space for their backpacks put otherwise excellent.
- Aborted landing in Denver. That was a new one. Tailwind, had to circle around again.
- Snow from Denver to Colorado Springs: F. Seriously almost died. Worst weather I have ever driven in in my life and had to do it in a smaller rental car.
- Hyatt COS: A+. Hot fresh cooked breakfast was a huge surprise (individually packaged still).
- UCCS: Insane views (facing pikes peak). Overall decent school. Nothing exceptional other than location.
- Crumbs cookies: OMG. So much sugar
- Garden of the Gods: A. Excellent drive through with the snow. Would have loved to have hiked but brrrr
- Dinner at Coati: A. Basically a big warehouse full of food truck vendors. Plenty of social distancing. excellent food. Games, etc. Great time with kid.

- Morning flight out of COS : Too early but had to do it. Very cute airport. Super small and easy
- COS lounge: Small but nice. Free snacks. Priority Pass for the win.
- COS to DFW: Uneventful. Landing surprised me but guess I wasn't paying attention.
- Lunch in Dallas (The Colony) at a little italian/pizza place. Excellent.
- UNT: HUGE school. worst tour guide. As expected. Fantastic music program, not sure if the rest vibes with kid. Hard to resist the low cost.
- Excellent equestrian team (COS had a good one too)

- Rested the last day. Hyatt DFW breakfast sucked
- Firemen on our floor around 9am banging on doors. Smoke. Nothing too exciting. No evac.
- Gameway lounge at DFW (priority pass again). Excellent. Free drink + 2 snacks totally worth the stop.
- Flight home Saturday uneventful

I wish we had clarity on the college search. Colorado is probably still at the bottom but if they give her a big academic offer like UNT did, it will be moving up the ranks. UNT has the music program but we need to see if she gets into that. Butler probably still in the lead overall but now $ is entering her mind. Trying to dissuade her that it should be a concern for her as we have that covered. This month should decide it though as the final information rolls in from each.
