You know what's terrific storytelling? Showing the Big Bad who's two levels above the current Big Bad getting beaten by the mother of one of the superheroes. That really shows toughness and high threat level.

Thankfully, Gal Gadot and Ben Affleck elevate the proceedings. But the scene between Aquaman and his father is just...yeesh.
