Dave's business partner and one of his best friends, who we will call M, has a son, who we will call E, who is 24 and is bi-polar and has been in a terrible state for at least a year.
M and his wife have done EVERYTHING they can to help him. I mean, everything. it's been heart breaking to watch.
They made the decision over the weekend to have him involuntarily committed because they are terrified he will hurt himself or someone else.
ALSO! M's wife's mother recently had to move in. She was living on her own but she has dementia that has gotten to the point that she couldn't be alone even with home care and they didn't want her to go into some home right now because of Covid.
Well. E cannot be contained and has been going out in the middle of the night to who knows where (there is nowhere to go).
This week the mother in law has been feeling ill, but with her dementia they were having a hard time figuring out what she is actually feeling (not coughing etc, just clearly 'ill' but can't explain why) and they took her to the hospital last night. Well, you know the result. Covid.
She is not a good candidate for a good recovery. M has been vaccinated, but his wife and E have not. Mother in law is NOT, they tried, but she kept avoiding (not anti vax, just not clear minded).
So, E could very well be the reason his grandmother doesn't make it.
And, they have no idea what that means if E is positive (gotta be tested - no idea how that will go) about having him committed.
it's horrible
