I don't think it would necessarily be "bad." In my experience, any effort is appreciated by most.

A refusal to use their preferred pronouns or to stop using their deadname is bad.
An occasional slip up (particularly if it's someone you've known and they've changed how they want to be referred to) is generally considered fine.
There are going to be people who are offended by everything, but from my experience trans people tend to understand that it can be difficult for others to adapt and as long as there is an effort they're fine.
