Easy access to/from Newark since it's next to Penn. 1/2/3 trains right there.

The 1 goes to World Trade Center
The 1/2/3 also goes to time Square.
And the 1 goes to Columbus Circle, which is the southwest corner of Central Park
Responses:
I love the 1/2/3 for getting up and down the west side. -- nm

I'm sure I'll have more questions as we get closer to the trip about what I need to get around and get from Newark (seem straightforward)

Newark is easy peasy. You take the airtran to the train station and there is a booth to buy tickets

They might have changed it but last I saw there was a $5 surcharge for buying tickets from the conductor on board. Should be vending machines there at the station. -- (edited)

Ty will be helpful in giving you info about getting to NYC from Newark. I don't leave the city by plane. :-)
