Fucking Renters Vol 3

As I've previously mentioned, the contractor who put the new roof on our cabin has been renting it over the winter. In the last update, he had complained about the power bill (uninsulated cabin in rural NS by the ocean turns out it's cold) and had bought a bunch of space heaters to use instead of the baseboard heaters ... cause that makes fucking sense. Anyway, we get a call last night from him that the septic is backing up. Oh. Well that's a problem, and ... wait, it's been doing this for a month? And it's into the lawn now? Yes, there was snow and it's hard to see what's happening with the grass but you say it's been backing up for a month and you haven't said anything until now? On Easter fucking weekend?
So he'd finally brought someone out to look at OUR FUCKING SEPTIC SYSTEM WITHOUT TELLING US, THE OWNERS and his guy said "oh well it's just full" - meanwhile we say "hold on, there's a pump, it's supposed to pump to the field". Uphill? He says? That's not how septic works. Um, yes, it's worked that way all along and we were there when it was inspected. Him: "Well I'll just give you my guy's number and he can..." oooooh no no no. We call the guy who inspected it for us when we bought and he reminds us that there's an alarm on the pump if it's full that should be driving them nuts, or if it's not going off, there's no power to it. But in any case, yes, pump it out. At this point I say "Five bucks the alarm went off and they cut the power because it was annoying them".
So we call him back, tell him about the alarm and he says "oh, that explains that". ... Explains what? Apparently one night a big alarm starts going off, and his elderly father starts investigating near the panel and knocks it around until it stops. NEVER TELLING US ABOUT THIS. ABOUT A MONTH AGO. RIGHT AFTER THEY STARTED USING THE SPACE HEATERS.
It also turns out that he hasn't fixed a cracked sewer pipe that we noted to him when we rented it to him, that we were discounting his rent to fix, along with some other winterization work he still hasn't finished. In fucking April.
Apparently he's got a new place and move early and wants to go week to week - which, fine, get fucking gone. You're still paying us the power bill for your bloody space heaters. Meanwhile he's wondering about the bids for the other work we want to do for the cabin this year - one small bit was double another contractor and the other one he never submitted a bid because "material prices are going up daily and you're not starting until May so I figured what's the hurry?" TO GET THE FUCKING MATERIAL COSTS LOCKED IN ASSHOLE.
