I’m considering booking business class travel for me and the kids next year. Any opportunities to save some money?

I’ve never traveled anything other than economy and it always boils down to “book the cheapest ticket that’s available at the time you’re looking”. I’d like to hear any tips there may be for premium travel. Should I book economy and look to upgrade later, for instance?
