Her opponent was also the progressive candidate. There was very little difference, if any, in their policy positions.

That's reflected in the final vote margin: a 52-48 victory for Jones.

Compare that to Kim Gardner's 20 point romp in her primary against Mary Pat Carl, a race with similar racial dynamics, but a marked difference in policy preferences.
