IYC: I have a close friend I made through sneakers a few years ago. We've looked out for each other when we could and got rather close

going to different sneaker and clothing releases and shows.

As most here know I tried in vain to get the Bacon Air Max 90s that released two weeks ago.
My friend Matt knew these were a special pair for me and tried to get my size but was unable to.
When that failed he got in touch with another sneaker friend we share.
This friend, Dan, is someone I've never met. We've only talked on IG and Twitter. We talk all the time but due to the pandemic weren't able to meet up in real life.
They got together last week and chipped in to get me a pair of the Bacon Air Max for retail. I paid the retail price and they covered the difference with the reseller.
I couldn't believe they did that! It is so very nice of them to do this for me.
To top it off though, Matt contacted the guy that designed the sneakers to see if he would be willing to meet up to sign the box. He lives in the city and was happy to meet up today.
His name is Dave Ortiz and he's one of the nicest guys. He was super friendly, told some great stories about the Hell's Angels that had their clubhouse across the street from his old store and gave us a tour of his distillery. Dave owns the first distillery in Manhattan since prohibition.

I had a day today that I'll cherish for years to come. I loved Dave's store, love these sneakers and love my friends for all they did to make this happen.
