Epix is basically the cable channel and streaming service for “the rest of them”. While now owned by MGM, it’s also the cable channel and streaming service for Sony and Lionsgate. Paramount was part of this too, but then they finally found their dick in the dark with a flashlight and figured out they needed a big boy streaming service and launched Paramount+. Paramount then threw some money at MGM and got them send their movies to Paramount+ before putting them on Epix (including James Bond). So, basically, Epix is MGM’s cable channel and streaming service, but they just bailed on their partners and took their marquee titles to the competition. So Sony and Lionsgate are, like, fuck that! And Netflix was more than happy to say “Psst... hey... over here, kid.”
