I was an 80s latchkey kid, so very much a combo of the two.

Got an Atari 2600 when I was in 4th grade, friends had Coleco (and probably others).
But I definitely spent a lot of quarters on Asteroids, Tempest, Dragon's Lair, etc.
I also had Intellivision and Sega Genesis, and a friend had Nintendo when it came out.
