That's a very interesting question. How much of the home automation in general stays or goes. Like my Nest, or the smart bulbs, etc.

Technically it's just 3 independent light strips so less jury rigging. The PI will provide (future) additional control that I won't get via the normal app or the ability to link it to other sensors. They'll work fine by themselves without that.
