Though more seriously it is 'just' an evolution (walking) of the ROV's that have been occasionally used.

I think the motivation of the people controlling the technology is still the far bigger issue.
I still am not sure about the whole using a bomb disposal robot to drop a bomb near a suspect in that Dallas siege incident
