I still don't think the Mob did it, especially for the reason they suggest...that it was a Get Out of Jail Free Card...because...more than a few of them stayed in jail.
Although that kid who got 7 years wacked off his sentence covertly had something to do with it. He had the goofy smile of an Idiot Killer type.
