Avengers: The Initiative #18
I'm liking this Secret Invasion storyline. I didn't think I would because I hardly know any of the characters. And those I do know, I know by name only (I've never read any of the comics they've appeared in before). But cross-country Skrull-killing road trip is always entertaining. And since so many of the characters are secondary, some are getting killed, so at least it's showing the dirty side of war.
Secret Invasion X-Men #3
Excellent stuff. Tense cliffhanger. But I need to read my X-books more. I don't recognize 2/3 of the X-Men in this book!
Superman #681 and Superman New Krypton Special
I thought DC editorial had gone crazy by putting Kandor on Earth. I thought the mythology of Superman as the "Last Kryptonian" was excellent and didn't need to change. Then we got Supergirl, and Krypto and the Phantom Zone villains and now all of Kandor and 100,000 Kryptonians... LIVING ON EARTH! And you know, it kinda works for me. It's evolving the mythology, not maintaining the status quo. I didn't like that they went back to the 60's-70's Krypton with everyone wearing a headband and a cape, but from the art, I can see that it's just representative of a different culture on Krypton. The full bodysuit Kryptonians from Byrne's Man of Steel are still there, they haven't been retconed out of existence, so I'm liking that. I'm eager to see where this goes. Ultimately, we can't have a planet with 100,000 Kryptonians without pulling off a Marvel-style "change the entire universe" shift.
If I remember my Braniac storyline, though, there were cities other than Metropolis and Kandor in bottles. That plot point needs to be resolved. As for Kandor, I expect it will ultimately end up as a city on Daxam.
