It's not all of them, but there's a bunch that seem to see their jobs as some kind of "pest control"

And it comes from
A) police not being a part of the communities they police, so everyone's an Other
B) Guns being everywhere, so there's a real sense of ominousness to every interaction
And yes C) straight up racist attitudes
