We've been watching "The Rookie" on ABC. They actually had a plot line along these lines in their last episode. New rookie is ex-military.

I thought they did a nice job of showing how it *could* be. Training officer was also ex-military but was teaching how the people they encounter are the neighbors, not the enemy, etc. etc. It was a lot of simple little things even in just the words used to describe a situation. Made it very easy to see also how quickly it shifts from good to bad.
