NO! One cannot group snow cones and shaved ice together. Absolutely not.

So there's the stories of kids being made fun of because their lunches 'smelled' when they brought lunches made by their Asian parents.
My version of that story is that I have memories of almost crying when I went to a county fair or similar in Texas and given a sno-cone. Something that I'll admit to having most likely enthusiastically asked to be purchased for me. At whatever single digit age I was it seems that my entire ice with sugar syrup life experience had been with shaved ice that I had been served while visiting in Hawaii. So I was probably culturally spoiled as well as I wouldn't put it past that I was young enough to be a brat to add to my disappointment.
But that crushed (which is absolutely not shaved) ice thing that is served in the US as sno or snow cones is NOT shaved ice.
I'm hoping that this somehow summons Musubi to back me up ;-)
