He was captain of Nottingham Forest for a long time, while they were in the top flight. He was capped 78 times for England (Three Lions) - 76 of those while playing for Forest. He was captain there, too - of the national team - on nine occasions.
His nick-name as a player was "Psycho", for his unforgiving playing style.
