I don't think anyone's suggesting he was going to be friendly. It's whether he'll do more harm than good.

the only reason to have him on because of that is to satisfy some sort of ego. "You're too scared to have me on!" "No, you're too stupid to be on my show." It's his show, he doesn't owe anyone anything.
