So MrsJax agreed to try playing D&D with her family. Any pointers to get started?

And it's been probably 35-40 years since I played in the 80s.

I'm going to start reading the player's handbook tonight.
I assume that tells us about creating the initial character? Anything else we need?

(We're going to do a small one-off campaign next Tuesday so we have some time.)
