I mean there's a discussion to be had about why the story is set up that way, although it doesn't require it to be nefarious.

Like, question our underlying assumptions and stereotypes. What do they say about us? Do they need to be tweaked? (I would say Disney wholeheartedly agrees, judging by their recent output)
