It's a combination of that and Disney wanting to do better in the Nielsen ratings imo.

The system counts from Monday through Sunday. So, a Friday release only gets three days that first week. With Wednesday release, it adds another five days.

So, when Loki debuts, we're all but certain to hear that it broke the Disney+ record for a new series.
