I also have a concern about weight as I have to carry it up and down stairs as well as on and off the subway sometimes.

I've had bikes that were annoyingly heavy to carry up the stairs.
The roads here are actually pretty good but as with any city there are bad ones and pot holes.
I'm really trying to keep the weight down as that's been an issue for me in the past with other bikes I've had.
