My guess is that Disney would wait for AMC to completely crater before they would consider buying. Though I guess there could be some 4D chess move

strategy if Disney is planning to use the purchase of AMC to further entrench themselves internationally.

AMC's the largest (I believe) global chain. So it's not just the complexes / screens that we see day to day but locations globally. So Disney would be taking those on as well. er, and I guess taking on the debt that was caused by AMC purchasing various chains around the world over the last decade or so.
