So the new netbooks that I've been seeing have 160 GB Hard Drives. What's the difference now between these and larger laptops?

I remember at first they were $300 bare-bone laptops mainly for web browsing and email reading.

With a 160gb hard drive (which is what I think my last desktop computer had), can you put Microsoft Office products and such on them?

My daughter wants one, and we're trying to decide between that and a refurbished full laptop...
