I presume their point is that picking in the top 5 in the MLB Draft isn't like any other sports, which is true.

I was discussing this on the Braves blog a couple of weeks ago. If you look at all of our drafts from 1990-2005, we could have had some wonderful players if we had drafted perfectly each year. That means that if we had chosen the best player who would go in the next 30 picks, we would have gotten some great players. I remember David Wright was one. Despite this, there were still about 18 picks in the first two rounds of those years where no matter what we did, there wasn't a good player on the board. It's the truest crapshoot of all major sports.
