I was actually thinking of reaching out to you this morning.

Close friends of mine asked if I could tutor their daughter (who is as much of a "niece" as my blood relatives) this summer. She is doing alright, and it's been kind of fun reviving some of those dusty old memories. Heck, I surprised myself by riddling off "x equals negative b plus or minus the square root of b-squared minus 4ac all over 2a" from memory. Took half an hour to remember how to actually work the quadratic formula, but still ... .
The next step we're working with is a "unit review". Mind if I send it to you after she sends me a copy?
We're going through groups of problems to try to identify themes or common elements she's wrestling with. For example, she's really good at spotting and reducing greatest common factors, and she is better at graphing solutions than I am. But we noticed this morning that we're both struggling with perfect squares and difference of squares.
