The bedroom is the best room but we can't hangout there. The living room has a west facing window that just roasts the room in the afternoon.

Sleeping is fine. It's hanging out in the living room that's an issue. There's only one door to the living room and it's closed to keep in the air conditioning. It just doesn't work well enough to cool the room off.
We made a bad choice in buying the portable units but at the time we were trying to get the best we could afford.
