Friday, as Kelly is waiting for her party bus, Nathan and I walk out. A large bug and a bird interact right above the garage door as I walk out. The big lands on the ground and the bird flies off. The big is an ugly ass cicada. So I show Nathan and Kelly and he’s like ‘cool’...

After a minute or so, I lift it up off the frisbee I had it resting on and it drunkenly flies off toward the neighbors. Nathan is watching and says, “he’s fat and slow. He’s going to get eaten.” Just then, the bird flies in, stops in dead flight and then jets off the other way. The little black dot we were watching fly off no longer in the air.

someone in my office used a decibel meter on their phone to gauge the volume here. The cicada drone is topping out at around 80 decibels -- nm - decline Jun 7, 08:07
