In the case of baseball it's not as easy of an adjustment to make. More guys should be looking to push the ball the other way but it's not as

easy as it sounds.
The pitcher and pitches being thrown affect how you swing and where the ball goes as much as how you swing the bat. There are many more outside forces affecting how you hit the ball than with shooting a free throw.
I do agree that there are things guys can do to try and beat the shift to a point where teams aren't as likely to do it.
But and this is a big but, guys have learned and honed their swing over 10-20 years. Their muscle memory is hard to break and imo, it's natural to pull the ball when you hit. It's much more difficult to go the other way and I can understand why guys are unable to go against the shift.
