And I say that in my best George Takei voice that I can manage. :-) Though largely humorously and facetiously.
And we have the same tradition of hospitality here in Portland. A lot of business host cocktail parties, BBQs, happy hours, or any number of events for military personnel. And I think we still have an "adopt a sailor" program for families to host personnel to a good home cooked meal or two.
And those pictures are utterly lovely. :-)
