...As fucked up as most people believe it is, that placing legitimacy on those getting elected - even if they are just "better than the other guy" - is the wrong way to go.
Were voter participation to fall to 20-30%, those elected might not feel as safe in their mandates because they would know they do not represent large numbers of voters.
Just saying.
