Summer of Soul* is really terrific. Questlove did a great job putting this together: in addition to the firecracker performances, the interviews -

both archival and present-day - really flesh out the culture of the time and help frame the significance of the festival.


*Documentary featuring long-lost footage of the 1969 Harlem Cultural Festival, featuring the likes of Stevie Wonder, Sly and the Family Stone, The Staples Singers, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Mahalia Jackson and others.

Won Grand Prize at Sundance. Streams free on Hulu. Highly recommended
