As far as one vote counting, I think the con side of the argument is focused on the big glamorous elections.

I didn't know until I started going to local meetings what crap went on behind the scenes and how a few changes would really impact the quality of life in the community.

I realize my one vote was more diluted when I lived in Seattle than where I live now. But there are local issues that will have strikingly different results depending on who gets elected. And most people don't seem to care about them, since they don't know. But they do really have a huge impact on the lives of the folks in the community.

A couple county commissioner seats are up for election here, and depending on who gets elected, that will set the direction for mental health care in this county for a couple decades.

And then when people complain about services, they will focus on the President, Congress, and the Governor when really it was a couple much smaller races that decide how those services got distributed (if distributed at all) here.

Once again, I'm swamped at work when I'm trying to participate in a conversation and I'm probably not making myself as clear as I should.
