For cable TV, satellite TV, cell phone, and other fully private media, it's absolutely a bad idea.

But for those companies using public airwaves on radio and broadcast TV, yer damn right the Fairness Doctrine should be brought back. If private corporations want to use a public resource, they're going to respect the public interest. If they don't want the Fairness Doctrine, then let them buy the rights to the airwaves, rather than sucking at the public teat.
