Scheduling was not an issue with other top players in previous Olympiads.

This time around is awfully difficult with the extreme heat. Having to do COVID protocols at every tournament, Olympics or otherwise is also a factor. Once we're hopefully clear of pandemic I think we'll see top players coming back to the Olympics.
