I've edited this because I was momentarily annoyed by the response. I apologize for my tone. I'm still grumpy about other stuff.
"Just think about this, you're trying to say that a film that made more than 9 times what Raya it's opening weekend, made a little over half what Raya did on Premiere Access. There's just no chance Raya made more than Black Widow did in Premiere Access. It makes no sense at all."
Politely, you're comparing box office on a film that came out once half the population had been vaccinated to one that came out in early March that many exhibitors refused to screen.
You and I both know that circumstances dictated that Raya do better on Disney+ than Black Widow. I sincerely hope that you just forgot about the blacklisting of Raya when you said that.
As for the Disney+ Trending discussion, that's one we've had behind the scenes for several months and as recently as within the last hour. It's also why I speak with such certainty. Back when kids were in school, certain shows and movies did better. Now that kids are home, exactly the sort of programming you would expect has soared up the charts.
Raya matched up just how it should have based on Trending, and Frozen and Moana did as well. Raya's consistent numbers are absolutely staggering for a Premier Access title, but the Trending supported that notion all along. As a reminder, I allowed for 2/3 of all viewings to be repeats with my calls. That's a crazy-high estimate, yet the film still earns money with that math.
Your last paragraph may prove correct. We won't know for sure unless Disney says something during its earnings report.
