Okay, so let's give Raya a 4,000 theater release, and double the opening weekend. I'll alter the paragraph accordingly:
"Just think about this, you're trying to say that a film that made around 5 times what Raya did it's opening weekend, made a little over half what Raya did on Premiere Access? There's just no chance Raya made more than Black Widow did in Premiere Access. It makes no sense at all."
Better?
We already do have the beginnings of a trend with box office openings and their corresponding Premiere Access data. Black Widow made $80 million and did $60 million worldwide on Premiere Access. Jungle Cruise did $34.18 million and made $30 million worldwide on Premiere Access.
We see that the film that made less than half of the opening of other film also made half on Premiere Access. Will these ratios be exact? Of course not. There's other factors here. But when a film makes so much more than another like Black Widow did to Raya, it just makes sense that more people paid for Black Widow.
There's also supporting factors here from SambaTV, Antennae and others that show that Cruella and Raya are pretty close, but Mulan and Black Widow are well ahead of those two.
I linked a guy who tried to come up with an opening weekend Premiere Access number for Raya. I think he did a lot of cool math here, but the reality is that it was unknowable thing then and now.
The only thing that truly tells us revenue are the numbers that Disney releases. We'll probably be able to say based off ratios which films made more once the Black Widow numbers are released Friday.
