They dropped a $100 million last year on an investment into Goat which is an app/site for reselling sneakers and clothing.

They know going to the store to buy sneakers and clothing isn't the future of retail. Kids today don't buy sneakers in a sneaker store.
With that said, Nike still makes the vast majority of its money selling sneakers off the shelf to mom and dad or just the average Joe or Jane looking for some sneakers for the weekend. People like me aren't where they make their money. We're free marketing for them. The hyped sneakers people like me go for only help the brand stay relevant and popular in people's minds.

Stores will still be needed and wanted but that may change as the kids gets older and expect to buy more and more things online.
