So far I am NOT a fan of this. The county where our Tampa-ish property does not have county trash or recycling contracts.

"[County] does not pick up your garbage. There is a competitive, open market system for garbage collection in this county. Private haulers compete for your business. Your household garbage and recyclables are picked up by a hauler you pay directly – or in some cases, your Homeowners Association (HOA) or Community Development District (CDD) includes this service."
So we've had this property for a month now, have called and emailed multiple places, and no one has called back or responded.

*shrugs* That is like my neighborhood. I actually prefer it as I shopped for the one with the best recycling pick-up option.

City does it. For recycling the city hires private contractors. They are apparently in the process of revamping how they do it. -- nm

We are in a building, we actually do have a private garbage pick up (highly unusual). But we do have city recycling and compost pick up. -- nm
