Plenty of space in the venues. Most of them go unused for the bulk of the Olympics. What’s clear now is that the Paralympics don’t get the same television coverage as the Olympics. If the Paralympic events were just “another Olympic event”, then they’d get more coverage. People would get invested in the marque events and in some of the wild team sports. There should be “Womelympics”, why are there “Paralympics”? These are the top athletes in their sports and should be allowed to participate on the biggest stage.
Is there a problem right now that television coverage doesn’t do a good job of covering the existing sports? Yes. But that doesn’t mean there should be fewer sports. It means they need to do a better job of covering the events. If they’re better at it, then they could lump in the Paralympic events with like events.
