a lot of the paralympians don't want that, because they think they'd just get subsumed and erased. actually doing it is mostly a logistics issue.

like the village has to be probably 50% bigger, the venues would need some level of increased facilities to handle the extra competitors, and the games are probably 5 weeks. you're also extending individual athlete's stays if you're mixing the events. not sure if it's still the case, but when my friend was competing (Nagano through Vancouver), you had to pay to stay in the athlete's village.
