Well, that also is the value of the Chase points. I can transfer them as miles or pay myself back (1.5x value) or use them in a variety of ways

I've found it to be quite flexible even during the pandemic when we weren't travelling. I certainly get not wanting to have to think about it, it is an opportunity cost though as there are ways to get a lot more value out of your spending.
