Corporations really only care about money, so all levers lead to cash.

Optics? That's a threat to the money.
Triggering new regulation on the industry? That's a threat to the money.
Causing employees to depart en masse? Well ... half the time that actually HELPS with the money, in the short term.
The only other lever that corporations fear is the employees staying but unionizing. Because that's a threat to the money.
