For Those Who Care .... a follow up to yesterday's post i had concerning computers and what not ...
|
cliff notes version of what i posted earlier just for those who are interested ...
Basically i have my old computer hard drive, and i thought i'd saved off of it all i wanted to keep... was contemplating taking it to a local computer services shop to find some means of extricating said files so i could save them onto a flash drive and / or save them onto my new computer... and I was facing a possible $30 fee for their services....
So i took the hard drive to the shop a little while ago .... and was hopeful that I could just save the files onto a flash drive myself, as it had what appeared to be a flash drive port, but i was informed at the shop that since the hard drive is an older model it likely wouldn't support a flash drive... long story shorter, it doesn't.
so, they let me hook it up to a monitor and i went thru to find the files i wanted to save ... and i got nostalgic for some old holiday pics I'd forgotten was on the hard drive, and one thing led to another, and i ended up pulling a butt load of old stuff into a new file folder ...they're going to transfer all of it onto the flash drive today or tomorrow, involves moving the stuff onto another computer or something... not sure how they're going to do it...
and of course, being the obsessive compulsive paranoid type than i am, i'm *desperately* hoping that they can move the entire folder onto the flash drive as i'm led to understand that they can... without having to do it document by document... it's not that i'm embrassed by the stuff that i'm getting from the old hard drive... it just feels a little invasive to the personal space when a stranger starts looking at your holiday pictures, or a word document that you wrote that has significant meaning to you, and so forth. it's bad enough taking a roll of film to be developed and knowing that the person is going to see what you took pictures of ... just somehow this would feel like a bigger invasion of privacy or something if a person looked at each file from your computer... you know?
it'll cost me 30 bucks for them to do it, and i'm ok with that so long as all of the document files and what not can be converted easily to my new word format programming on my new comp ... again, just being the OCD / Paranoia Guy.
