I admit needing the memory jog of a broadcast retrospective earlier tonight, but...

... especially for "On the Waterfront" there was that charged recollection of "oh, yes, he was really really fine" in support.
My sister loved "The Streets of SF" as a teenager, so by osmosis he was fresh in my mind into the late 70s.
