I re-watched Singin in the Rain and now might be the only person who wonders what exactly did the final cut of the The Dancing Cavalier

look like?

I've always thought that the Broadway Melody / Gotta Dance sequence seems like it is from another movie but is that the movie making fun of themselves as well as a way to get Cyd Charisse some screen time?

I think my brain kind of glossed over the fact that Cosmo says that the Cavalier portion of the film is actually an extended dream sequence with a framing setup of the plotline of the Broadway Melody but with less gangsters and more sandbags to render our lead unconscious.

So granted the sequence is ostensibly a pitch (We've got one more sequence to shoot and it's for the modern part...it'll be like this, RF) and isn't the actual sequence for Dancing Cavalier. However, that's supposed to be just part of the modern sequence?

Yeah, yeah. I'm ok with a jump off a streetcar, land in a random car meet cute but I've got issues with the movie in the movie. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
