Comorbidities are the subject of MANY studies, it's an area of huge interest! you got that right.

as you gathered, I'm talking about how to define degrees of severity. We are very limited judging severity if patients don't require hospitalization. Hospitalization is based on a set of criteria (which I don't know). Admission to ICU and ventilation are two more quantifiable levels. And days in any of those categories are quantifiable as well.
So, that's the gist of my point, for whatever it's worth. :)
